Nicole’s earliest musical excursion came at the tender age of three when she started singing in her local church choir. Alongside her brother and cousin, Nicole began to contribute to the church’s TV program on the Charlotte TV station WAXN, before turning her attention to dancing. The singer later joined her high school's choir group, and turned down a scholarship from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee in order to focus on her music career. Intent on getting her music out there she independently released her debut album “Follow the Call” in January 2010. The record led to the singer signing a management deal with Vertical Entertainment and the EP “Brittany Waddel” in 2004. Following a couple of years honing her vocal talents, in 2006 Nicole signed with the Christian label Sparrow Records and contributed vocals to the hip-hop group GRITS’ 2006 album “Redemption”. The singer’s major label debut “Say It” was issued by Sparrow Records in May 2007, spawning the singles “You”, “Believe”, and “Set the World of Fire”. Starting out as a hit singer/songwriter in the Christian Music scene, Britt Nicole has began to break away from the categorisation of this stereotype by releasing her mainstream singles, and currently working on an album for popular release. After being signed to Sparrow and Capitol Records, Nicole released her single Gold, which was very well received, and saw her gaining support slots on recognised US music tours.
Nicole has topped the Christian music charts countless times, and has had much recognised success. Seeing her live was extremely refreshing, as she performs her music from somewhere deep within and is emotionally motivated by everything that she’s singing, which is something that unfortunately can’t be said for all musicians. Most recently, her song The Sun is Rising was featured in the Blockbuster film, the other woman, which gave her some recognition.
In concert she is extremely composed, and her choice of setlist complimented the venue and environment well. She played a selection of her Christian pop, alongside some of her more mellow R&B, and of course the successful single Gold. She’s a lovely performer, and a humble receptor of her audience support.
Britt Nicole is an artist who has dominated the Christian Pop charts in her time, releasing a handful of singles and albums over the last decade. She’s even been nominated for a Grammy Award! Fair play Britt. Tonight she performs a slew of some of her best singles that she has released throughout her career, bare in mind her last two album “The Lost Get Found” and “Gold” both made it to number one in the US charts. She bounds in on stage with her hit song “Gold” which is a worthy opener and a very good way to kick off this set. There is are infectious melodies throughout the chorus, paired with a fun four to the floor drumbeat which just have everyone in this room dancing with hands in the air. “Headphones” is the wild card track that brings everything to a bit of a mid set trough as she performs with just her and a piano, either way, she still has the audience in the palm of her hand with what ever she does. “The Lost Get Found” closes the set with much style, encouraging the audience to sing along with the middle eight section of the song.
Britt Nicole is the all American girl next door that has slowly been making her way up into the mainstream music industry. Starting out as a Christian pop singer, she has since branched out of the Christian music scene in order to appeal more to mainstream music lovers. She has since released a number of moderately successful pop hits that are undeniably catchy and fun. However, she retains her original fans and Christian spirit. As a result, she now boasts a whole range of fans, from her early and more recent days in the industry. She seemed like a lovely girl and greeted us all warmly. She was extremely bubbly and excited but as soon as the music started she was all professional: her vocals were impressively powerful and her voice sounded great. She easily hit all the right notes and was great at entertaining the crowd. She performed ‘Gold’, opening the show with the pop power ballad, and followed it with hit song ‘Headphones’. Both songs had the whole crowd singing and dancing along, creating a great energy.
