Biografia
Initially formed by friends and schoolmates Alexander DeLeon and Cash Colligan, the pair began recording demos together and uploading them to MySpace in 2004. By late 2005 DeLeon and Colligan invited drummer Alex Johnson, guitarist Paul Garcia, and pianist Alex Marshall to join the Cab’s lineup, later playing their first show at The Alley in Las Vegas. The following January the Cab signed with local label Olympus Records, however progress was stalled until the band were able to give a demo to Panic! at the Disco’s Spencer Smith and Jon Walker. The demo resulted in the Cab signing with Decaydance Records around the same time members were graduating from high school.
Without having released any material the Cab were generating themselves a great deal of exposure on tours in support of We the Kings, Panic! at the Disco, Dashboard Confessional, and Forever the Sickest Kids. In March 2008 the band performed at the year’s SXSW Festival followed a month later by the release of their debut full-length “Whisper War”. Featuring Brenden Urie of Panic! and Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, the record was led by the single “One of Those Nights” and topped the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. The LP’s subsequent singles included “I’ll Run” and “Bounce” both of which earned regular radio play and rotation in the online blogosphere. In support of the record the Cab embarked on the Dance Across the Country tour with Steel Train, The Morning Light, and The Hush Sound.
In June 2009 guitarist Crawford left the group and was replaced by their friend Bryan Dawson, followed by the departure of bassist Cash Colligan later that year. In 2010 the Cab played on the Alternative Press and Warped Tour, before advertising for a new guitarist. Ahead of their sophomore album “Symphony Soldier”, the band moved to Universal Republic and released the single “Bad”. Earning widespread critical praise, the record features the likes of Pete Wentz, John Fieldman, and Bruno Mars. The Cab embarked on a national headlining tour in support and promotion of the record, before opening for All Time Low, Simple Plan, Avril Lavigne, and Maroon 5. The EP “Lock Me Up” followed in April 2014, following which Alex Marshall parted ways with the group.

The Cab? They are 'Cabulous' live. Sorry for the awful joke but, in all honesty, they are brilliant live. I love the atmosphere of concerts as it is, but when The Cab are on stage, it's crazy. One of my favourite songs by The Cab is 'Angel with a shotgun' because it's so touching. Performed on stage takes it to another level. Right before singing this at the concert I was at, they spoke to the audience, really engaging. Someone was pulled up on stage. I'm not sure whether I've been any more jealous than I was right at that moment, yet it was so fun. The venue wasn't too large, making you feel like you were part of the action, it also helps that it feels as if they own the stage.
It's easy to say that this was one of the concerts I'd been most looking forward to seeing, and one of the ones I was most upset about not being able to go back too. Be warned, when you leave the concert, you will want to relive it again and again.
It's hard not to listen to any of their songs and not have it stuck in your head for the next few days.
Catchy and trending, The Cab is my cup of tea. Or coffee.
