London based Gengahr, who are already receiving support from DIY and NME were a must see on my Live at Leeds festival schedule. A rather short show at twenty minutes in full, but in this case it can be put down to quality over quantity. And the Huw Stephens supported debut release 'Fill My Gums With Blood' is testament to that way of thinking, which makes an impressive midway singalong appearance. Having immediately downloaded the oddly titled track straight after hearing it on Huw's show, I happily sang along. Live, it sounds somewhere between the muffled guitar riffs and vocals of Unknown Mortal Orchestra's early material, yet it could fit just as well on the tail end of Alt-J's debut album. After spending longer trying to get across Leeds to find the Belgrave Music Hall than they actually played, they luckily came on just as we arrived at the venue. Four or five songs in the set from their debut E.P all sound as good as the last. They've since gone on to support Wolf Alice on tour. If they can pull out another few singles as good as they have so far, good things are surely just around the corner.
A quad of really talented musicians, all of whom bring a different presence to the stage. Seen them in a small back of a pub hall as well as a large venue and they filled out both with their sound. The guys are great to talk to as well, staying after shows to sell merch and lapping up their inevitable praise with light-hearted grace. I've seen them twice, and I'll see them again dammit
Great performance with a lovely atmosphere. The band members were super down to earth and kind afterwards and I got to have an art print signed by all four of them! All in all great night!
This is genuinely the best gig i've been. Just go see them, they're amazing you seriously won't regret it <3
