Coming into this, I was moderately excited. I never heard of Pi Ja Ma before and Superorganism's short repertoire made me a bit worried that the concert will be too short and feel half-assed. I was more than pleasantly surprised.
Pi Ja Ma opened with some songs that were instantly catchy and great to set up the mood, and the singer was oozing charm and personality. They were very friendly when I went to buy their 45 and signed it beautifully. That was a strong start.
But nothing could have prepared me for the main event. The band brought so much energy that even the (in my opinion) weaker cuts from their record
like Nai's March and It's All good made me jump and dance and sing. Their stage presence of flashy costumes and props in contrast with Orono's cool soundglasses, hoodie, sweatpants and sneakers looked great as she delivered great vocals while seemingly barely moving a muscle.
The whole experience was amazing and I can't recommend it enough. Tickets were relatively cheap as well, and the venue was nice and cozy with good cheap beer. 10/10 would go again many times.
I was not expecting to be amidst a very young and mellow crowd, but after hearing the youthful sounds and weirdness of the lyrics, it all made sense. Truly an 80s obsessed band that will easily garner a cult following of creative, gentle fans who adore pop references and single word ideas. Totally recommend for a great and refreshing experience. "Prawn Song", "relax" and "everybody wants to be famous" were well played and received. Go see them.
Amazing concert! Both in sound quality and stage performance, expected to enjoy it, expectations blown clear out of the water!
The visuals they have are phenomenal and can only get better from here, amazing band and very excited to see what they do in the future!
Simpson was an amazing opener for this band, created a great energy in the room.
Absolute madness. It takes a certain level of talent to be able to attract such a diverse crowd from all ages & background to vibe/rave under one roof. Orono's ability to get the crowd moving is unmatched & Robert Strange's insane visuals were far superior to any other performance. Seeing them live is definitely an experience to have!
"Superorganism is not a cult", but they're like The Go! Team meets The Flaming Lips meets The Polyphonic Spree meets...Yo Gabba Gabba? All FUN. It's not possible to sit still during a Superorganism show, and they've got big plans for 2018. They may not be a cult, but sign me up anyway!
Loved them live SO much. Tons of fun. Crowd interaction. Fun dancing. Love them!
The lead singer did a wonderful job interacting with the crowd. The lights and visual we're fun. Not as intense as I was expecting, which is good for me. Made me get up and dance!
Had a great night. The act was a lot of fun and the musicians were cool.
The contrast between the lead singer and the backing vocalists was a great addition to the show.
I really want to be a prawn now.
Great LIVE Act! Amazing sound, so much happening on stage, visuals, the dances and the overall vibe. Wish they had more songs though. Waiting for a new album next year and watching them live again
