Who doesn’t love disco music? There’s just something so feel good and up beat about it, that you can’t help wanting to groove along to the beat. This is exactly the effect that the American disco/soul band The Trammps have on me. As one of the first disco bands out there way back in the 70s, the band set the bar for disco music incredibly high, introducing the genre at it’s best form.
‘Burn bay burn, burn baby burn, disco inferno’…were the lyrics that were sang a capella as the lights came up and the smoke filled the stage ready for the entrance of the band. Whether you were a follower of The Trammps or had never listened to their music intentionally, every single person in the venue knew the song and was getting hyped for their performance. It was hands down the most explosive opener of a show that I’ve ever seen, and by the end of just the first song, the audience were hoarse voiced and out of breath.
The standard maintained and stayed so high, with the guys playing tracks here and there from Slipping Out, Disco Inferno, Trammps, and Trammps II. It’s such a shame that they’ve not released anything too recently, but their old material is still as strong as ever!
