Throughout her youth, Hesketh developed a passion for music, learning several instruments and training classically as a singer. At the age of sixteen, she even auditioned for ITV's talent competition, Pop Idol, reaching the third round. However, it was during her studies at Leeds University, UK that Hesketh was to start her first foray into popular music, after joining the disco-punk act Dead Disco, taking the position as lead singer alongside Lucy Catherwood (guitar) and Marie Franceon (bass). The band were quickly becoming a minor success, selling out venues and appearing at Leeds Festival. But for Hasketh, she wanted to pursue her own musical direction, leaving the band in 2007 to embark on a solo career.
Finding influence from the likes of The Human League, Pink Floyd, Britney Spears and Captain Beefheart, Hesketh began creating music under the moniker of Little Boots, recording her first releases with Hot Chip's Joe Goddard and Greg Kurstin. Her first single, "Stuck on Repeat," became a club hit, finding fans through its infectious pop. Her debut full-length, "Hands," arrived in 2009, reaching the number five spot on the UK Albums Chart. The album was also successful in America, debuting at number seven on the Heatseekers Albums Chart.
Having released several mixtapes that displayed her DJ talents, she returned with her second album in 2013, with "Nocturnes," a record that achieved a more raw, direct sound, moving away from 80s synth pop towards greater influence from electronica and disco. The album debuted at 45 in the UK albums chart, selling over 2,000 copies in its first week. The album featured the production talents of Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford and Hercules & Love Affair's Andy Butler.

Little Boots is an electropop songwriter and singer from England. She began her career as a member of the band Dead Disco. She has released two studio albums since beginning her career as a solo artist.
I watched this talented girl perform at Sziget in the year 2013. I was never a fan of the electropop music genre until I attended this concert! Her amazing ability quickly converted me to a fan of this genre. She performed at an indoor venue with plenty of seats for a large audience and the seats were quickly filled. She did not use a lot of props throughout her performance; however, she did use a lot of visuals. They were plenty of flashing lights moving around the room and changing colors along with the songs that were being performed. There was also a video board behind her that was playing weird things that mixed well with the music. She interacted very well and often with the crowd.
She also performed with a passion that was unmatched when compared to previous concerts I had attended. The passion got the audience pumped up which led to a fantastic concert. I would recommend watching this girl perform whether you are a fan of the genre or not! Like I said earlier, she quickly converted me and she would definitely convert you too if you give her a chance!
In 2009, it looked pretty set that Victoria Christina Hesketh could have been the UK's newest shining pop star. After scooping the BBC Sound Of award and being nominated for the Brits' Critics Choice, Little Boots went on to release a top 5 albums and two top 20 singles. Although the electro-pop singer strayed away from a radio friendly sound in the followup and lost a large amount of the fair weather fans.
Luckily a large majority stuck around for the mature sounds of 'Nocturnes' and continue to sell out the elusive shows. It is a night of sophisticated pop from a very likeable performer who balances art and reality perfectly. Although the outfits may be lavish and the synth lush, Victoria breaks this intermittently to chat with the crowd. There are large cheers for old hits 'Remedy' and 'New In Town' yet the new tracks such as 'Satellite' and 'Shake' show promise that Little Boots career remains continuously in motion, the end destination has simply not been chosen.
Little Boots is always really fun to watch! I have nothing but respect for an electronic dance band that uses a real drummer. Boots is so funny! I saw her long ago at The Troubadour and the band was more complete than the current version but the music is still great! At The Echoplex she let people up onto the stage to dance while she played "Shake". It was so funny! She kept on playing regardless of technical and wardrobe malfunctions! Always awesome to watch Little Boots!
