Though Issues coincides with the existence and contains several members of Woe Is Me it is not necessarily a side project. Carter formed Issues after leaving Woe Is Me and thereafter dedicated his time and attention solely on Issues. Apart from Carter, the band consists of another ex-Woe Is Me member Michael Bohn and newcomers AJ Rebollo, Tyler Acord, Skyler Acord, and Josh Manuel. Other members of Woe Is Me were in the initial conception of Issues such as brothers Ben and Cory Ferris; however, they were unable to attend recording sessions and subsequently left the band.
The band released their first EP “Black Diamonds” on 13 November 2012 to generally favorable reviews as well as success on the charts. “Black Diamonds” peaked to 96 on the US charts and all the way to number 8 on the US Hard Rock charts. The band already showed a stylistic difference from Woe Is Me. Instead of writing material with a straightforward approach to metalcore the band implemented use of synthesizers, turntables, and rap verses into their hardcore sound. Around the time of this release the band toured extensively with bands such as Attila, Make Me Famous, and Ice Nine Kills.
The group reinforced their reputation as multi-varied artists by releasing a seemingly ironic, but nevertheless sincere cover of Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend”. This track was released on the compilation Punk Goes Pop 5. The band continued this trend by reworking the ‘N SYNC song “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” for the Punk Goes Christmas compilation.
Apart from the occasional single the band’s next big release was their 2014 self-titled debut. After this release the band’s profile seemed to explode. They were supporting mainstay metalcore acts like Bring Me the Horizon and Of Mice & Men throughout their American tour and they were also scheduled to play the entirety of the 2014 Vans Warped Tour. The band has also played huge events outside the United States such as Reading and Leeds Festival. Issues have established themselves as a prominent group within the hardcore and experimental pop music scene and embarked on a headlining tour in 2014 supported by the likes of I Killed the Prom Queen, Ghost Town, Marmozets, and Nightmares.

New kids on the block, Issues is the word on everyone’s lips.
Formed in 2012 by former vocalist of metalcore band Woe Is Me, Tyler Carter and DJ Tyler “Scout” Acord, Issues began as a side project and thus progressing into something truly wonderful. One of the great things about this band is that they are open to interpretation, some might debate their genre classification but at the end of the day Issues mean something different to everyone. Think Nu-Metal circa 2012. Drawing on all their influences and taking what’s hot (for instance the revival of EDM) and creating an exciting, fresh and new music.
Like the name suggests, the lyrical subject matter deals with all kinds of personal subjects which allows for audiences to relate to on various levels. Recruiting unclean vocalist Michael Bohn (WIM), AJ Rebollo, Sky Acord and eventually Josh Manuel to complete the current Issues line-up. Their debut EP “Black Diamonds” (Rise Records) released in the latter half of 2012, allowed them to experiment with their new sound and appeal to fans of multiple genres: pop, metal, r & b and hardcore, seems like an odd mix but it works. “Her Monologue” and “King of Amarillo” are perfect examples of the success they’ve achieved in creating this cohesive fusion.
Touring with bands such as: Atilla, Bring Me The Horizon, Letlive, Pierce The Veil and Of Mice & Men allowed them win over new fans with their unique fusion of genres and energy fuelled live shows. With their highly anticipated self-titled debut album providing new anthems to inspire a whole new direction for their live shows it allows fans to connect even more at a personal level.
From the moment they step on stage, the audience are already engaged swooning over Carter’s effortless impeccable soulful and r & b vocals, combined with the electronic beats provided by DJ Scout and the metal breakdowns it’s hard to not feel the music move you. Having worked tirelessly to spread the message of Issues, the band have captivated audiences along the way and growing their passionate fan base even further not only using their infectious charm but also by being able to relate through the variety of issues that their music explores. Hooligans rise! An endearing term they use to identify their fans, and surely enough they go insane as anthems such as “Hooligans” and “Never Lose Your Flames” amassing a huge sing-a-long, flailing their arms from side to side. Whether you’re a fan of pop, metal, r & b or EDM, there’s something for everyone, I dare you not to love Issues.
Best night OF MY LIFE! Memphis was the best show and they killed it! I got front with my friend and I made so much eye contact with Michael and Aj. I even gave Michael my choker!! Tyler held my hand and let’s just say I cried a total of THREE TIMES during their set. I hope to remember this night for the rest of my life. Truly memorable and every band did fantastic! :D
I saw them November 13 at The Pressroom in Phoenix, AZ. They put on the best show I have ever seen. I may be biased because they are my favorite band lol. They sounded even better live which I didn’t think was possible. The musicianship is outstanding. They played about 20 songs and the crowd never let up. 10/10 recommend.
Issues was the headliner for the concert, which I attended with three others.
The show was very good and the venue provided good acoustics. Tyler Carter was in fine voice and very friendly with the audience. The acoustic version of Princeton Avenue was my favorite of the night.
I would see them again.
Issues was truly amazing and left me in shock and awe. I also extremely loved the other bands ESPECIALLY Ghost Town, I got to meet Kevin Ghost and MannYtheDrummer and it was amazing because they are so nice and caring. I strongly recommend that others go see them it was an amazing show!
SUCH AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE!!!! I had a great time and there was so much energy! The most pit was very gentle and cute and I actually joined in which I normally don't do. Overall this was probably one of the best concerts I've been to in a while
Omg!! The concert was amazing! The venue in general is really small, but it was amazing! No complaints. Crown the Empire killed it tbh! Just an amazing set! They really need to come again together. I have Post Concert Depression right now.
Absolutely incredible!!! They are always good live! Very interactive with the crowd. All of them are talented. Especially the bass player, he is a beast! Probably my favorite band to date. If you ever get a chance, deffinitely go see them.
Issues was amazing like always! I've seen them 4 times now and havnt been disappointed! They are such great and talented guys! They put on such a great show and I am so proud of them if where they are headed. Keep up the great work
This was my first time seeing Issues outside of Warped Tour and I wasn’t disappointed. The energy was amazing, the crowd was nuts, and it was the best way imaginable to spend my birthday. So much love for these guys!
