Midnight Oil is an Australian rock band formerly known as "the oils" that plays a mix of alternative rock, hard rock, and new wave rock. I had been following midnight oil since my dad showed me a picture of them and played some songs for me from them when I was still a child. The way Peter Garrett, Rob Hirst and Jim Moginie put on a show (among others) was amazing. I finally got to see them live in concert a while back and took my dad with me since he introduced them to me.
We got there and the arena wasnt too packed, but you could tell people coming to see them were genuine and true fans. A few band members came out before the show to sign some autographs and what not and made me feel they were really nice people. They played songs off of their first 1978 self titled album and my dad loved it, He was singing along and waving his hands and what not, then they played songs I knew off their 2002 album cappricornia and I was the one singing along and waving my hands and stuff! It was such an amazing show I will never forget.
Last nights concert at House of Blues on Boston was amazing. The band has not lost it! My husband and I took our 23 year old son who heard them for the first time when I was pregnant with him. We saw the band in what was formally known as Great Woods. My son has been a fan ever since. Peter Garrett's wonderful assessment of our current political climate was spot on. But the most amazing thing is that their music is as relevant today as it was 20 years ago. Thank you for bringing back such fond memories and a great night with my husband and son. We also met some other wonderful diehard fans as well. Keep on Rocking!!!!!
As always with Midnight Oil, the show was perfect. The band mixed all it's hits (Beds are burning, Blue sky mine, Read about it, The dead heart, Truganini, Forgotten years, Only the strong, ...) with some less know songs (One country, Artic World, Feeding frenzy, Mountains of burma...)to offer a really unique show. All the band members are well into their sixties and yet remain one of the best live rock act that you can possibly see. No big screen, no dancers, no pyrotechnics, no complex light show.
Just one of the greatest rock band with dozens of outstanding songs.
Easily one of the best live shows I've ever seen. Their music is second to none, and their stage presence was entertaining without being too theatrical like some bands tend to be. Midnight Oil was singing about issues of racism and oppression way ahead of their time and is still relevant to current issues in society. It was fucking lit.
Incredible show at Brisbane's Riverstage. The Oils are as brilliant and as powerful as ever. They continue to deliver their strong political, social and environmental message through outstanding musicianship. Garrett's presence and legendary dancing on stage are as energetic as ever. The Oils are back!
Absolutely amazing concert. I wish I could re-live it. Everything about it. The vibe, Peter's dancing. Everything. I love how they planned the Sydney show to be on the 11/11 for Remembrance Day to show respect. They also paid respect to the land. Great show boys, keep it up.
What a fantastic show! Midnight Oil has not missed a beat! Peter Garrett was in fine voice and the band sounded tight. The set list was perfect and presentation amazing. A must see concert of the year. The highlight of the show
Beds are burning and Forgotten Years.
The band still as awesome as before; I've waited 20 years to see their concert for the first time. It was worth it. I have to comment about "My Country" played in a slow-acoustic version that made everybody get a little misty in Espaço das Américas.
They sounded so GREAT and by far the best song was Blue Sky Mine and they finished by playing Power & Passion. Kick ass concert. My son has never seen them and since he loves my 80's music he loved it. So cool to see concerts with my son. Randy
