Project 86 is a Christian rock band from California. They have been together for sixteen years and are still going strong to this day. The house lights are down and the sound of huge drums fill the room, with a fantastic amount of reverb. In fades distorted guitars and vocals adding to the anticipation surrounding Project 86. It’s a little bit of an anti climax as they take to the stage as the lights come up. The roar from the audience was a little bit quieter than I was expecting but hey, let’s see what they have to offer in this set!
Opening the set is a song called “Hollow Again”, which is mercilessly heavy, and definitely the first time I have experienced a heavy metal band sing Christian rock. As the song gets into full swing, mosh pits form and are completely encouraged. “Put Your Lips to the TV” isn’t making this Christian title any clearer to me, but it has some great moments and this crowd are aware. “Fall, Goliath, Fall” is their final song, with the set coming to a close, everyone gives it their all the band remaining very tight throughout.
