Mark de Clive-Lowe at the Blue Note in NYC was all that I anticipated! The band was phenomenal and included world-renown bassist James Genus (Hankock, Saturday Night Live house band, Daft Punk, etc.) as well as Mr. Nate Smith on the drums (INCREDIBLE). The horn players (whose names I unfortunately forget) were also mind-blowing. The lovely Nia Andrews contributed vocals. MdCL's music is a mix of jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop, and drum & bass. This performance showcased his latest album, Church. Unfortunately, the Blue Note isn't set up for dancing, but this is the kind of music you cannot help but move your body to. An energetic, unforgettable, life-affirming show!
