ATR formed in 2000 and quickly wrote their debut album "Behind Silence and Solitude", which was later released on March 26th 2002 through Prosthetic Records. Born of Osiris, who take their name from the Egyptian deity Osiris and the tale of his son Horus, became a part of the Northland Chicago metalcore scene alongside Veil of Maya, Monsters, Oceano and For All I Am, all of which are now signed bands. The band successfully signed to Sumerian Records and released three full-length studio albums and two EPs on this label to date. They are made up of Ronnie Canizaro on lead vocals, Joe Buras on vocals, keyboards, synthesizer and programming, Lee McKinney on guitar, David Darocha on bass guitar and Cameron Losch on drums and percussion.

Born of Osiris is one of those bands that tour relentlessly having played an array of festivals including the Summer Slaughter Tour in 2008 and 2009 and the Music as a Weapon Tour. They embarked on a co-headline tour dubbed The Night of the Living Shred tour with All Shall Perish, After the Burial, Caliban and Suffokate. They have supported bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Unearth and Hate Eternal.
The was a video posted of the guitarist Lee McKinney rehearsing over a riff which is rumoured to be a driving component in a song that will feature on a future release. He also had an 8-string guitar custom made for him by the UK guitar company Invictus, suggesting a change in musical direction, and it did in the form of an album called “Tomorrow We Die ∆live” which was their most successful album yet making it to number 27 on the Billboard 200, selling 13,052 copies in the first week.
All That Remains have the kind of force behind their musical performances that allows them to shake rooms with their loud, heavy guitar playing, double bass drum playing, and screaming in your face type vocal style.
Two things that a metal band must be when playing live is heavy and fierce, and All That Remains definitely accomplishes this task. Although All That Remains often has heavy dissonant sounds, they also incorporate a very melodic style of playing to their music as well. Their bass player, Jeanne Sagan, will sometimes sing in incredibly harsh, high-pitched and dissonant screams, while the lead singer, Philip Labonte, will sing in a more melodic voice during the chorus, but will often breakout into a complete rage, bellowing his vocals off like deep growls of an angered beast. The guitarist, Oli Herbert, has very angular style of playing music that consists of shredding solos in inharmonic scales.
The band definitely has the perception of a tough guy persona with all the members dressed in black and banging their heads to the fast and loud rhythm of the metal music they are blasting. Philip Labonte is fierce on stage, running all around and jumping up on the drum platform to belt out his lyrics. The crowd is just as excited and enthralled into the performance by showing displays of crowd surfing and starting up mosh pits. The band is also very acknowledgeable of the audience by frequently checking up on the audience during the performance to see how they are doing. The stage theatrics at their concert is also spectacular with bright strobe lights violently flashing over their stage that is filled with a layer of smoke.
All That Remains definitely knows how to present an epic rock show that is likely to melt your face off with their intense music and leave you absolutely ecstatic after their performance.
Heavy hardcore prog-metallers Born Of Osiris have been making tidal waves on the metal scene of late, following the release of their second full-length album ‘Discovery’ in 2011. Their brutal-to-the-ears style is offset by obliteratingly hard-hitting guitar riffs and prog-y keyboard additions, which play a large part in their sound- making the American sextet an excellent touring choice to warm up the crowds for huge bands like Hatebreed, Cannibal Corpse and Hate Eternal. The Sumerian Records-signed bunch are also veterans of the US Summer Slaughter tour, which they played in 2008 and 2009. After a few line-up changes and the unceremonious firing of guitarist Jason Richardson following the release of ‘Discovery’, Born Of Osiris still deliver the goods as a live act, with blistering riffs, incredibly tight drum solos, and impassioned screamo lyrics from vocalist Ronnie Canizaro galore. When I saw them a couple of years ago on their epic UK tour with labelmates Veil of Maya and The Faceless, the night was an absolute blast. Moshpits abounded for Born Of Osiris’ set, and the charismatic Canizaro kept the energy high throughout and had the whole crowd pummeling their feet and screaming for an encore. Their keyboard-and-guitar-driven approach to progressive metal, as well as their enduring energy onstage, makes a Born Of Osiris gig brutally enjoyable from start to finish. An awesome live show!
