With Twin Atlantic, their success was and still is growing exponentially. The band started in Glasgow, building a reputation on the local scene and even landing a support slot with Circa Survive before recording their debut EP entitled “A Guidance from Color”. They released their first single “Audience & Audio” on December 24th 2007. Kerrang! were key in their early career, giving them a platform that boosted their status enough to land support slots on tours with Biffy Clyro and Smashing Pumpkins. Following this, they supported Blink 182 and Say Anything on their UK tours too.
They released their debut album “Vivarium” on September 14th 2009. This same year, they promoted the album relentlessly embarking on tours with Taking Back Sunday, and playing the festival circuit earlier that year. 2010 saw Twin Atlantic support The Gaslight Anthem and My Chemical Romance.
Twin Atlantic released their album “Free” on April 29th 2011. It was led by the single “Edit Me” on Valentines Day that year. Zane Lowe played the second single from the album “Free” on March 10th. The album reached number 37 in the UK Albums Chart and was later certified Silver by the BPI. The following year after featuring on the Vans Warped Tour, they supported Blink 182 again in a tour with The All American Rejects.
On March 31st 2014, the leading single “Heart and Soul” from their forthcoming album, “Great Divide” was featured as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in the World on BBC Radio 1. The album was later released on August 18th 2014. It reached number 6 in the UK Albums Chart.
McFly have been one of the most successful bands of this age, and it's easy to understand why. Watching them live is one of the most interesting performances you will see in your life. My experience at one of their concerts consisted of mainly food talk, including them creating a theme tune for one of the burger vans at the stadium. Expect the unexpected! Even though they have released many albums, they are still amazingly talented, recently impressing everyone with one of their newer songs 'Love Is Easy.' Following the theme of love, check out the YouTube video of the wedding speech made by one of the boys, it is truly inspired and heart warming. It is set to one of their own songs 'All About You'. Some may say they have past their best, I think the exact opposite. Not only are the constantly improving their shows to make them even bigger and even better, they are still surprising fans. One the most recent excitements was the McBusted tour (a collaboration of McFly and Busted). Looking for a good McFly song to get you started? Try my original favourite 'Star Girl' or for something slightly less well known go for 'Broccoli.' Either way, you'll regret not listening to them. The only thing you'll regret more than that is not having tickets for their concert.
Nominated for best live band, starting to get radio play and playing main stages on the festival circuit, Twin Atlantic are a band you need to know if you don't already.
This Scottish band have been around for several years, starting with my favourite album Vivarium in 2009, featuring favourite What is Light? Where is Laughter?
Twin Atlantic have been away for a year writing and recording the greatly anticipated new album 'Great Divide', released this summer, featuring the top 20 single 'Heart and Soul' making now the perfect time to jump into the world of TA.
Their music is part rock and roll with guitars and fist bumping, but also beautifully heartfelt and real with Sam McTrusty's killer voice and Scottish tones, as well as the songs where Barry McKenna brings out the cello, changing the vibe within a live show brilliantly dramatically! Live shows are when they are at their best, you can see their passion for music and are so grateful for the support and the growing fanbase of recent years. At festivals and headlining shows they get the crowd going with everyone's arms in the air rocking along to 'Make a Beast of Myself' at the end of a set and the whole crowd singing along with 'Free' and trying to sing it in a Scottish accent while you do!
Twin Atlantic are an incredible band who make amazing music and put on exciting and real shows. And still, underneath it all, they remain the four fun, hard-working, humble guys from Glasgow.
