Guitarist and composer Agustín Matías Layús is set to release his new album, "Hacia el Sur" (Southbound), an immersive work of programmatic and descriptive music. The album is a visual and evocative proposal, functioning almost as an incidental soundtrack, where the deep intention of each track is to recall the distinct moments and people that have shaped the author's life. Through this search, the music projects sonic images, inviting the listener to journey through these lived landscapes.
While the aesthetic moves away from traditional jazz to explore cinematic textures, the interpretation is grounded in the solid foundation of musicians trained in the languages of jazz, chamber music, and tango. This diverse background of the performers imbues the work with a particular sensitivity in its interaction and dynamics, merging the freedom of the jazz genre with the precision of chamber music.
The sextet is composed of the following musicians:
Agustín Layús: Guitars and composition
Valeria Sosa: Violín
Diego Larripa: Cello y Arrangements
Juan Badenas: Trumpet
Jose Pawlin: Upright Bas
