I've seen Yaeji 3 times in 2018, without a doubt her breakout year, and her live show should not be missed. She spends equal time behind the decks as she does sauntering around the stage, singing her faded jams in both Korean and English. She has a powerful yet calming presence, and most importantly, dials the party up to 11. That is what we are all here for after all, am I right? Act fast because she has sold out every show in the states and draws large festival crowds. Her openers, while mostly unheard of, are phenomenal and usually close friends with Yaeji herself. Be there for that.
First of all let's agree on the most important: a gig on a Wednesday night is not a great idea. It's also not great when your ticket says doors open at 7 but really doors open at 8:30 and the temperature is 5 degrees C.
But once we're in it's all warm and... empty. Wednesday night issue again.
Being a big fan of Hammerfall as well (not so much of the Evil Invaders high pitched screaming) I was disappointed to not be able to hear the vocals. Not sure what technical problem occurred but it wasn't cool. Hammerfall promised to come back for their own gig so I'm impatiently waiting for that. Hopefully there will be no techie problems!!
Then off to Majesty. Well at least one could hear them well. Not sure if Sabaton-like tops suit Majesty, how about thinking of something more original? Also Majesty guys are nowhere as fit as Sabaton, so maybe let's stick to the coats they also wore last night.
Vocals were good but selection of the songs not so much. A 'shout at the world song' because you want to tell the world to ef off?! What? I love metal but not because I hate the world at the same time! Guys, seriously, just stick to singing Dungeons and Dragons.
Summarizing, I don't think I'll be going to see Majesty again. And I hope to see Hammerfall one Friday or Saturday soon!
