Everyone attending this show tonight to watch The Irish Rovers is out for the craic, ready to have a fantastic time. This Canadian and Irish outfit has been together for a staggering fifty years but it hasn’t stopped them doing what they’re best at, and that is entertaining crowds across the world with their fantastic cross over of Irish folk and folk rock fashioned music. They have really made the biggest names for themselves in both Canada and Ireland, and fair play to them. When the lights go down, there is a simultaneous riff being played by the accordion and Hammond organ, which sounds out and makes the audience go wild. It’s only the opening bars of one of their hugest songs, “Lily in the Pink”. “Wasn’t That a Party” is probably the biggest song of the evening. We’re so fortunate enough to receive the ten-minute live extended version. It’s fantastic to hear their accents shine through the music, as strange as they are with their Canadian and Irish tones combined. They close this huge set this evening with their song, “Everybody’s Making It Big But Me” which was a top ten hit in the Canadian Acoustic chart.
