After looking forward to seeing Eivor in Manchester we certainly weren't disappointed!! She quickly and amusingly connected with the packed crowd in her warm endearing way, preceding songs with tales of their origin.
The set list covered a brilliant balanced mix including established Faroese favourites and translated tracks from her latest English Slor album. She delivered these whilst mesmerizing the audience, holding them in awe of her varied phenomenal vocal and instrumental skills. Whether huffing out throaty sounds, reaching angelic highs or rocking, beating a Nordic drum, caressing or thrashing her guitar this girl has a beautiful magical musical gift. Accompanied by her brilliant band and professionalism of their sound engineer made this the most amazing, haunting, exciting, totally captivating memorable concert we have ever experienced.
However, hopefully next time Eivor is here she will play at a more suitable venue such as The Bridgewater Hall or RNCM as Night and Day Cafe is a long narrow bar directly off the road and lacked enough ventilation for a full capacity gig so became extremely hot for both artist and audience alike even though outside was only-2C that night.
