Many people probably have some pre-conceived ideas about what Christian Music sounds like but bands like Wolves at The Gate show that there is more than one type of song of praise. The Christian Post-Hardcore outfit have been growing steadily for a few years, amassing a loyal fanbase which allows them to play shows to an eager crowd every night.
Their songs shine in a live environment with the heavier sections absolutely assaulting the crowd with bassy punches and cymbal crashes and then the melodic sections taking on a size and power that just can’t be reached on record. Guitarist/vocalist Steve Cobucci delivers stunning melodies over the high-octane backdrop creating a contrast between the majesty of the melodic sections and the sheer force of the heavy ones. The crowd is drawn into the performance, singing along and releasing all their energy through moshing and generally losing their minds to the music. Wolves at The Gate aren’t what many would typically associate with Christianity, but they are showing that their music is just as powerful and moving in its own unique way.
