I’ve been following Micky and the Motorcars since reasonably early on in their career, and I’ve listened to their five albums over and over again, and know all the lyrics to every track. My expectations were reasonably high as I know all of the music so well, and I’m so glad to say that the entire band met, if not exceeded my hopes. They opened the show with their track Naïve, and from the moment they picked up their instruments, they brought the house down. They were great at improvising alongside and over the top of each other, and all of their tracks were super tight making an incredibly catchy country sound.
As well as playing their older work, they played five or six tracks from Hearts From Above, which was absolutely incredible as the album’s barely been out for a month, so the hype from the crowd was incredible. Micky Braun was great at shouting out to everyone in the audience and getting us to sing and dance along whilst the rest of the crowd were playing incredible riffs and beats on their instruments. It was a great fun gig with loads of variation of material which kept everyone enthusiastic and engaged.
