Fantastic concert.
Loads of old favourites from Weave and Spin and Mayday like Elin's Trall, The Colour of Amber, Nottamun Fair, The Crow on the Cradle, Katy Cruel, ... and one's I'd not heard them do live before (like Kate Bush's This Womans Work). They also did loads off the new album Cycles - even though it's not out yet (just gone off for production). Some I knew already: Land on the Shore was one that they taught us at their singing workshop last year, and another cropped up in Hannah's JigDoll project. But some were newly minted - Gerrard Winstanley's Digger's Song and beautiful songs by Rowan and Hazel. Hazel's was about physics and death, I kid you not.
Whenever I hear Lady Maisery or their other projects and bands I a amazed at the musicianship, the clear and interesting close harmony work, the politics and ideas behind the songs, and just how beautiful the sound is.
