A true joy to watch onstage, Australian born Lanie Lane a.k.a Lanier Stefanie Myra Johnston is a regeneration of classic blues and jazz from the 30s, 40s and 50s. She completely commits to the Americana look onstage, dressing as appropriate to the time and singing in a synonymous blues style, her debut album 'To The Horses' won her commercial and critical acclaim in her homeland.
Her live show helps build on this shining start, the retro sounds are received brilliantly by audiences as Lanie performs tracks such as 'My Man' from her debut with the same charismatic charm that comes through on the recording. A real spirit onstage, she has a wonderful rapport with the crowd and she has a selection of vintage blues in the shape of 'What Do I Do' to keep them dancing as she skips onstage visibly enjoying being in the spotlight.
A strange combination of the innocent starlet and the determined feminist, the lyricism of 'That's What You Get' is contrasted with Lanie's domineering stage presence who's mighty voice commands all attention in the room. She takes to the roads in Australia again in October, so get your tickets if you're a fan of vintage Americana.
