It wasn’t just the English that were making the 60s beat scene the most exciting musical event of the time. Glaswegian band The Marmalade decided in the 60s that they were simply not happy as just ‘Scotland’s top group’ and decided they wanted to make their mark on England and the rest of the world too. After a co-sign from beat legends The Tremeloes, Marmalade came to London with something to prove and even now, decades after their run of chart success, you still get that energy and fight from a Marmalade performance.
Their psychedelic -tinged beat style has aged gracefully moving into the 21st century, evoking a warm and mysterious nostalgia as they take to stages to play hits like ‘Reflections of My Life’. The members may be older but the songs themselves sound fresher than ever with their delicate compositional complexity marking a real departure from what is going on elsewhere in the music world. When Marmalade set out to conquer England no one expected them to succeed but now years later they are still making new fans today all with the power of their timeless sound.
