For some people, being in a band works, but for others, success is found in a solo career. Such is the case for Swedish singer/songwriter Jenny Lewis, who was the founder of the band First Floor Power; however after seven years and two albums she set off to do a solo career. The solo career earned her the European Border Breakers award for becoming so popular on an international level.
Jenny Lewis emits cool. Backed by a drummer, bassist and keyboardist, she has a presence that commands the attention on stage. The lights, for the most part, remain off, except for the red and blue lights that flash behind them to add to the artist feel of the show. Her songs are a blend of spoken word poems with song choruses, which seems to have a bigger impact on the listener when heard live. Probably because you get the full in your face emotion that she is trying to emit. She clearly loves what she is doing, especially since her music is an outlet of her thoughts and emotions, or so it seems. She “dances” in place, but its more like she is letting the music take control of her body and she can’t stop it from happening.
