You remember that song “Steal My Sunshine” from 2000 or so? It defined my summer childhood when it was at the top of the radio charts. Since then, Len haven’t been up to much, releasing a couple albums shortly after their hit, then retiring for about 8 years.
But they’re back. While I can’t guarantee that they’ll rediscover the radio success they once had, I can tell you that their live show has not been affected by their hiatus. They’ve released two albums since returning to their music, Get Your Legs Broke and It’s Easy If You Try, both in 2013. Having them play a lot of their new music was great – it’s cool to see how a group has changed after a few years off. They’ve still got a similar pop based, lighthearted rock sound, but definitely a more modern version of it. Melodically, they’ve maintained the same style, but sonically they’ve moved on from the noises of the 90s, with a much more authentic guitar and drum sound. Fortunately, they didn’t ignore their old tunes and I did get to hear “Steal My Sunshine”, it just sounded more like a modern band playing a cool cover of a 90s jam.
Len are worth a watch, not only because of their old, well-deserved fame, but because of the new sounds they’re beginning to produce again.
Don't believe the hype. Just bought a ticket for an upcoming Toronto show and found out it is not the." Steal My Sunshine" Len. It's a rapper from the UK.
The jacksonhoward review on this page is fake too. They haven't toured since 2003 and are no longer a group. Buyer beware!
