Admiral Freebee

Admiral Freebee is the alias of a singer songwriter called Tom Van Laere, who has been doing his thing now since the turn of the millennium fronting a band on the vocals piano and guitar. Taking his stage name from the Jack Kerouac novel On The Road, Admiral Freebee is in fact also the name of a ship that sank in San Francisco Bay.

Watching him perform is quite a treat as he performs with bags of energy from the start to the finish of this hour and a half set. They begin with an up beat rock song called “Always on the Run” which elevates this atmosphere right up to a ten with it’s fun vibes and catchy choruses. Van Laere is such a fantastic artist with his charisma carrying him through this set. He is a bit of a strange one to watch on stage, with a slightly whimsical sort of charm about himself but he has the best time, especially playing songs such as “Mediterranean Sea” which just makes everyone dance this afternoon, the atmosphere escalating throughout this set.
