Pnau has a long and storied history, the Sydney duo first arrived on the scene with their debut album Sambanova in 1999, winning best dance release at Australia's ARIA awards. They get off to a rocky start however, when it was pulled from shelves over sampling rights issues weeks later. They've since laid down an immense collection of dance tracks, their eponymous 2007 album declared by Elton John to be the best record he'd heard in ten years, whose since gotten on board with the duo for a collaborative album in 2012. They've worked on commercially explosive side project Empire of the Sun with longtime collaborator Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson alongside their more ecstatic performances and new singles as Pnau. They have a real reputation when it comes to live shows, their onstage antics are a reflection of the technicolour nature of their tracks and videos. I personally go mad when 'Baby' gets to blasting out the speakers, the crowd roaring the hook, straining their voiceboxes for an hour or two in euphoric fits. Their performances lend you a kind of vitality for the duration of their shows, as they rock out with bird whistles in front of a near epileptic light display.
