Nits, formerly The Nits (and sometimes labeled as such today in some releases), are a dutch art rock group, founded in 1974 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Their musical style has varied considerably over the years, as has their line-up with the core of Henk Hofstede (the group’s lead singer and lyricist), Rob Kloet, drummer, Robert Jan Stips (Supersister, Gruppo Sportivo, Golden Earring), keyboards. The band's live show has gained quite a cult reputation over the years due to the eccentricity of the performers and intense recreation of their discography onstage.
They have released a huge collection of albums, and it appears they have only been touring and writing since their formation in 1974. Due to this tireless effort, what the band do, they do well. Each member is very skilled with their instrument and they blend well together onstage and look visibly pleased to be playing to their crowds. Never one for the gimmick, the stage decoration is sparse which puts their art rock stylings in central focus, playing a whole string of fan favourites including 'Boy In A Tree'. '27 A' and an extended version of 'Adieu Sweet Bahnhof'.
They keep their largest international hit 'In The Dutch Mountains' for a dramatic first encore closer before the cheering from crowds brings the excitable musicians back to stage to perform 'Port Of Amsterdam'. A really fun evening out, Nits are embarking on yet another European tour and tickets are available now.
