Osunlade

Music has always been a part of Osunlade’s life, even at a young age he developed a passion for the arts and found himself learning a variety of instruments and soon the song writing process followed. Through involving himself in a various garage bands during his teenage years, Osunlade was able to develop and perfect his craft. His professional career took off in 1988 when he was recruited to compose music for children’s television programmes, the most prolific being Sesame Street. With one foot in the door and a thirst for production work, Osunlade moved to Los Angeles with the hope of building a substantial production history. Whilst there he began working for Solar Records working with several artists before given the opportunity to produce the first album to be released on Interscope Records. Having worked diligently for corporate organisations over the next few years adding to his list of credits, Osunlade had an epiphany where he sought freedom from the infrastructure of the music business. In his search for spiritual solace, he was directed to the Ifa nature based culture deriving from the Yoruba tribes of Nigeria. In 1999 after being spiritually rejuvenated, Osunlade founded Yoruba Records solely focussing on dance music with the premise of creating music which elevates the soul. Through his legendary live DJ sets, Osunlade has quickly become a reputable and respected musician in his genre. There is a calmness which he possesses on stage which permeates through the room. His branch of conscious house fusing tribal drum patterns and intertwining it with traditional Brazilian patterns takes the crowd on a journey of enlightenment whilst awakening all the senses.
