Youngblood Brass Band

It’s fair to stay that there just aren’t simply enough brass bands tearing it up in the music industry are there? Let’s talk about Youngblood Brass Band, a very original band made up of some fantastic musicians who boast an exceptional amount of musicality in each song that they perform. They perform some of the biggest hits from the last forty years in their set; I was especially taken a back by their cover of one of my favourite songs, “Ain’t Nobody”, which immediately got this crowd in gear to dance throughout this hour and twenty minute set.

They perform a fantastic song called Brooklyn too, each member dancing from start to finish, eventually turning into a sort of jam session with everyone taking an eight bar solo demonstrating a fantastic amount of virtuosity throughout. One of the things I’m absolutely blown away by is the amount of bass that the sousaphone produces! They should perform at some of the biggest clubs in the world!

Been trying to see these guys for years but the stars never aligned.

Finally made it and it was worth the wait. All the energy, engagement, humour, and brilliant sounds I'd read so much about both here and elsewhere.

Will be sure to catch them again next time they're in London.
